The Darkside 01: Elaine Kordys and Bob Levene, Sunday 8th July 7-9pm, Arnolfini.
‘Recorded Live’
Bring a record, tape or CD. It can be anything music, sound, spoken word …something you have seen live or something you would love to see. Talk about it, perform it, or have it performed for you. How would you evoke those lost live moments? Alternatively, you can come and simply listen over a glass of wine and some hula hoops. The evening is dedicated to all things live and lost.
Elaine Kordys is an artist who makes installation and performance,
she lives and works in Glasgow and is one of The Spaghetti Club.

The Darkside 02: Alex Bradley and Anthony Roberts, Sunday 9th September, doors 7pm, Arnolfini.
‘Foreign Muck’
Anthony Roberts famous international live art promoter and bus driver will dredge up his musical roots, enemies and strays to form the mythical ‘Foreign Muck’ a band that are said to have existed only in the minds of left/right/anyhow leaning Timothy Leary devotees living in a commune situated in the grounds of a Colchester church (you know who you are). In the current culture of reformations from The Who to The Police Ant has decided to reform a fictional band that will break up at their first gig. Ensuring inclusion in rock and roll history and the future promise of a ‘fantasy reformation’ tour for lots of cash and a possible South Bank Show special with Melvyn Bragg.
Supporting act is the most fabulous Paul Granjon’s ‘disco hour’ in the bar.
Anthony Roberts is a shapeshifting gargoyle.
Alex Bradley is trying to get out of doing anything ever again but failing badly.

The Darkside 03: Tom Marshman and Clare Thornton. Sunday 2nd December, 4 – 9pm, Arnolfini Theatre, FREE.
‘The Performance Re-enactment Society’
Tom Marshman and Clare Thornton have a mission - to breathe new life into performance archives through an evening of re-enactment and ‘tableau vivant’. Marshman and Thornton want to hear from ticket rippers, ushers, back-stage crew, box office staff - all those who help to create the magic on stage (and that includes the audience)! We salute the unsung heroes. We ask you to step out from the darkness and join in the fun of recreating a memorable performance moment - a moment that you have witnessed on stage, at Arnolfini or any other performance and music venue. We invite participants to remember or invent a favourite moment and to recreate it for a photograph. These images will be collated at the end of the event and added to the Arnolfini Archive.
We are dedicated to rendering your performance memories live once more. All welcome, come with your memories and we will provide the rest.
Clare Thornton is an artist and curator currently living in Bristol. She works with personal and collective narratives and exploring ways in which these can be distilled into public art works. She uses text, textile, performance, photography and video. Clare also works with the NRLA Video Archive (Live Art Archives/Theatre Collection) at the University of Bristol.
Tom Marshman is one third of the Spaghetti club and also makes solo theatre work.
The Darkside 4: 3 Minute Warning, Sunday 13th Jan 3pm, Arnolfini, Free.
For the fourth and final Darkside event, The Spaghetti Club want to put their feet up and be entertained, so they’re opening up the doors of the Dark Studio for a 3 Minute Warning. 3 Minute Warning is an open platform for work of any form, but all the pieces must be no longer than three minutes long. Previous 3MWs have involved heads being shaved, origami squirrels and the human beermat… so whatever happens, it’s bound to be an unpredictable way to ring in the new year. The Spaghetti Club have toured the 3 Minute Warning format across the UK and internationally. For the Darkside, The Spaghetti Club will also be challenging three local artists who specialise in different practices to make a new three minute collaboration, especially for the event.
